Ad of the Week: Dead Man Down – What Would You Do?

Dead Man Down ad screen shotToday's marketing gem is a hidden video experiment to promote the film Dead Man Down. The agency, New York's Thinkmodo, rigged hidden cameras inside and outside of an office building elevator and staged a murder inside.

What Would You Do signWhen people walked up to the elevator and pushed the button, it would open to reveal a man being strangled by another man. The reactions were put together in a video that asks "what would you do if you walked in on a murder in progress."

It's a compelling study of human reactions, which range from running away screaming to just standing there and looking (or in one case, taking photos) to jumping in to try and help save the victim. Watch the video below.

Dead Man Down – What Would You Do?

We all like to think we'd jump in and help – but would we really? I like the video because it puts the person and to some extent the viewer in place of what happens in so many murder mystery movies. What happens when you stumble into situations like this. When they're real, they could have very real consequences.

So, what would you to?
