Ad of the Week: ESPN – Commercial Actors Fantasy League

ESPN fantasy football ad-Trever the shampoo actorStarting today, we're bringing back our popular Ad of the Week post every Wednesday. And to kick it off is a campaign from the always funny folks over at ESPN. To promote signing up your league the upcoming Fantasy Football season, they have a series of spots featuring cliched spots for various other products (Shampoo, Applebee's type restaurant chains, allergy medicine) and the actors in those spots thinking about setting up their "Commercial Actors Fantasy Football League."

In each spot, the actor shooting one spot thinks about how the actor in another spot can't be commissioner of the league because of some character flaw. That character flaw shows up on the set of the other commercial shoot, as the shampoo actor shows his temper, the restaurant actor shows that he overthinks everything and the allergy actor shows he's too soft. Each actor wants to set up the league first so they can be commissioner.

I think the spots are well done and they make me laugh. Perhaps its insider baseball that makes me like them so much, being in the ad game and liking the behind the scenes looks at shooting commercials and the actor temperaments you sometimes have to deal with. Let me know what you think.
