Be Positive

Living in Michigan, during the early stages of Winter, there are times when life can appear rather gloomy. The leaves have fallen off the trees. The cold starts to set in. The days are shorter, giving us less light and time outdoors. The sky takes an eerie resemblance to the pale grey concrete we drive on. These things alone could make for some less than positive feelings, then we compound those feelings with the usual negative election-time smear campaigns that bombard the networks, growing concern for the troops, living in a state with a struggling economy & professional football team. For lack of a better term, it’s a time when death appears to have its grip on everything. A sentiment made even more evident with the loss of our Legendary Michigan Head Coach. What am I getting at here? With so many negative things around, it’s important to stay positive and focus on what really makes us and the consumer happy. Isn’t that what the general consumer really wants anyway? To be happy? Isn’t that the driving force behind all of their purchasing habits? Don’t we all buy goods solely based on the question, "Will this purchase result in happiness?" We are all very fortunate to be in this "business" of advertising. Advertising has a powerful impact on people’s personal image… and if we can contribute to an overall more positive personal image through product sales then why shouldn¹t we? So I hope everyone spends some time with friends and family over this holiday weekend. I’m asking you as a favor, right when you’re in the middle of it all, take a seconds pause to take it all in: All the good warm feelings, all the great food, music and drinks. Take in all the comforts of home and family, and then ask yourself:

Are we doing enough to promote a positive consumer image for our clients?

Or are we letting finance offers and Sale events be the Brand image?
