Geiko has always had an unconventional approach to their advertising. For years now, instead of one over-arching campaign, they have created multiple campaigns that are completely different from each other. Each campaign is targeted at a different target market. The gecko campaign has shown to connect with women, while their caveman campaign tended to connect with younger adults and the more juvenile minds (aka, us men) and the stack of money with the googly eyes was targeted at the price sensitive psychographic. Each campaign has really nothing much to do with the other, except to hit their brand promise of saving you 15% or more on your car insurance. The creative is different and the media buys are different.
Now, they've been running a campaign with a tough, in-your-face spokesman who asks, "Does Geico really save you 15% or more on your insurance?" And then he comes back with the quirky equivalent of "Does a bear crap in the woods?" The latest installment of this campaign, called "Sarge" is one that literally made us LOL. The basic premise is that former drill Sargents don't make very good therapists. You can see the fun result below.
Geiko: "Sarge"
When we checked out "Sarge" on YouTube, we found another interesting one we hadn't seen before called "Honest Abe." While not quite as laugh out loud funny as Sarge, the premise alone is worth a chuckle.
