I haven't been able to post here in awhile and it's been driving me crazy. You see, by some weird circumstances, we can't access Typepad.com from our office. Our IT guy is trying to figure it out and we're not up and running yet. But I can access from home, so here I am on a Friday night at 10:20 writing a post. And if you're going to make a blog work it has to get under your skin and you need to feel compelled to write.
That's why so many agency blogs fail. They feel that content marketing and blogging is something they should do. But unless there's someone there who feels compelled to write it, not out of duty but out of need to share, then it won't work. True, sometimes I get swamped and this goes unattended for awhile. But, it drives me crazy then, too. Like a blade hovering over your neck. It's always there – the need to write and share what you know.
Is that kind of passion in you? If it's not, your blog will get spotty attention. Heck, if when it is, sometimes your blog gets spotty attention – for many reasons. Look at the dates of the last few posts before this one as a case in point. That's why you need to feel compelled to write and share your writing.
Frankly, posting this late on a Friday night is a lousy time to get someone to read it. And it's not exactly on target for a company blog subject matter. But, I don't care. I couldn't take it any more. I'm home, I have access, the wife is dozing on the couch and my daughter's half asleep after the first three days of her new job. So, I slipped out of the family room into the den and fired up the old home computer. And here we are.
You'll see some changes coming soon to the Yaffe Tidbits blog. We've been working on some new ideas and I spent part of my afternoon working on an editorial calendar. It'll be a more focused way to share what we know and what we learn with those who could benefit from what we have to share. But, there will probably still be some posts like this. Because if you're gonna be a successful blogger, you're just going to feel compelled to share whatever's on your mind some times.
Thanks for listening. All 3 of you. Have a great weekend!
