It's fun. It's funny. It has a tiny little talking donkey that grants your wishes for an invention you wish existed. Put it all together and you have our ad of the week from GE, "Invention Donkey."
It starts with a guy discovering a tiny miniature donkey wandering along a counter top/desk top, which stops him in his tracks – because, you know, that's not something you see every day. The donkey is not Eddie Murphy's wise-cracking donkey from the Shrek movies, but he does have a dry sense of humor and good timing to his wry comments.
After a little cajoling from the Donkey, the guy wishes to power the world, but asks for an app. The donkey ridicules him for thinking an app can change the world. Then he goes into detailing all the work you would have to do in order to create something that would actually power the world. Which, oddly enough, is exactly what GE has done in recent years.
Although it's not truly a wish granting donkey in the sense that he doesn't grant the invention wish of our guy here. But he does a nice job of explaining how the wish is already granted via his corporate sponsor, GE. All in all, it's an entertaining video that does a good job of getting the brand story across in memorable fashion. Perhaps it's more clever than funny. But I enjoyed it. Take a look for yourself and tell me what you think.
