Yesterday our Sr. Art Director insisted I check out this music video parody from Cinnamon Toast Crunch. And frankly, I can't stop watching it and smiling. It is so weirdly amusing and wonderfully well done. And there's a lot going on – you have to watch it multiple times to catch all the nuances. Is it cinema verite? Not even close. Is it over the top fun. Most definitely yes.
Basically, the video opens up with three random people sitting at a breakfast table, just finishing up their bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and one of them picks up her bowl and drinks the milk. This causes her to get a more than Stepford wife frozen smile on her face and start busting out some dance moves. The other two follow suit. Next thing you know, more and more random people are added into the frozen smile crazy dance – ala one of those "What's Up With That"" SML skits. In fact, speaking of SNL, a jogging couple in matching track, who kind of feel like the couple from the "2 A-holes" SNL skits, join the fray. The mail carrier is making it rain with a stack of mail, a metal band front main joins in, along with a meticulously dressed multi-racial gay couple with kid in stroller and random flipping business man in suit.
All in all, it is just fun tow watch and the song parody is an infectious ear worm to be sure. But, nothing is quite like expereincing it for yourself. So, without further ado, here it is.
