Ad of the Week: Red Stripe – Hooray Beer

By August 8, 2012Ad of the week

Red Stripe Free Money shotIt is often said, you should celebrate the little things in life. Red Stripe beer has taken that quote literally, with a campaign that celebrates things like using a big word correctly in an office presentation. It's fun, on target for the brand and memorable. All good things for beer advertising.

In the spot "Big Word" we open on a young man making a presentation to a conference room full of people. As soon as he utters the word "equanimity" the leader of Red Stripe's Reggae Orchestra sticks his head into the board room and says, in his Jamaican accent, "Look at you, using a big word correctly in an office meeting." The roving reggae band follows him into conference room, singing about how he used the big word and should be promoted. Good times ensue.

In another spot, "Free Money," a guy at the laundromat finds $5 in his jeans pocket. Again our traveling Red Stripe Reggae Orchestra is there to celebrate that moment, with suggestions like "you can buy a 5-course meal in the vending machine or buy some non-static dryer sheets." And, oh look at that, that woman over there has noticed your luck. Lucky you.

Now who wouldn't want a reggae band to randomly show up to help you celebrate your little life victories. Hooray for you, hooray for beer and hooray for Red Stripe creating a fun campaign for all of us to enjoy.

Thanks to Dmitri from our social media team for this suggestion. Got your own ideas on an ad you'd like to celebrate with an ad of the week hooray? Just let us know. We might not sing about it, but we certainly could write about it.
