In the past few months we Art Directors at Yaffe have noticed some emerging trends in Broadcast advertising. Techniques that have been getting a good amount of use in the new year, along with some viral spin offs that just extend the usage.
First is the “Light Trail” effect. This is nothing new…but with the increase of a tech-savvy audience that wants visuals that look as cool and electric as the product they are buying – light trails have found their place again in the retail market.

"Chase – Sprint Ahead" "iPod Nano" "Cadillac CTS"
Another trend we have noticed is the use of simple clean backgrounds with conversational characters in the foreground. UPS, Apple, Bud Light and even Old Spice have taken this approach. Whether it is funny, clever or outrageous, it is just good clean fun talk without all the bells and whistles

And lastly, one of the trends to emerge is the use of relective surfaces to give any product that showroom shine. Apple and Volkswagon seem to have pioneered this look. But since many clients large and small have used this effect to enhance the look of their product or logo tag frame. No references – If you haven’t seen it, you don’t watch TV or use the net.
