No_talking Regular readers may have noticed a distinct drop off in comments to our blogs here at Yaffe Tidbits. In fact, it’s been since early this year since anyone posted a comment on any of our blogs. Why is that and what can be done about it? General readership has dropped slightly, but we still get regular traffic on a daily basis and a decent amount of page views. That can probably attributed to the fact that, if you run a blog, you need to keep it up on a regular basis. And I’ll admit, we’ve been pretty busy around here and I’ve not kept it up as regularly as it should be. We’re averaging around three posts a month and in March only had one. It’s been almost a month since the last posting. So, that’s part of the fall off.

But, maybe part of it is that our blogs tend to be more informative in nature, giving marketing trends and talking about things in our industry that are of interest to us and hopefully you the readers. There’s not a lot of controversial stuff going on here – the kind of stuff that generates a lot of discussion. Another theory of mine is, with things being busy in Yaffeland, there’s not a lot of my fellow Yaffe Groupers taking the time to read the blog, unless it’s their turn to write something up. And, in the past they’ve generated at least half of the feedback and gotten the dialogues going. I’m going to test that theory, that we’re not paying attention by offering $10 to the first Yaffe Group employee who posts a comment on this blog. It’s not much, but hey, it’s my own money.

In the meantime, anyone else out there… I’d like to hear from you. What do you think? Is there something we should be doing to generate more dialogue on this blog or is it just the nature of this blog to be a good read, but not create a need to comment? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Not too bad! Posted on Thursday and by Monday, had two of you posting comments. Guess more of you are keeping up than I suspected. Congrats, Lauren. Too bad, Ron, missed by half an hour. So, do you have any ideas on getting more talk going… besides me shelling out cash, that is?

I am not exactly sure what we should talk about on here. Maybe the more cutting edge things that are happening on the creative side. We could talk about the controversial stuff we may be seeing in ads on tv. Maybe even the cool trends that Ron was telling us about on Tuesday. The interesting way that commercials are being placed throughout movies. I don’t know. I am a bad person to ask because i will talk about anything, regardless of how much I actually know about the subject matter….

I think the more opinionated blogs are the more interesting ones. Or, the ones where people are allowed to vent, although I’m not sure if this is the proper forum. For example, I read one local blog stream where people in the ad business shared the dirt about their agency and other agencies.
