Target Hits a Home Run with Back to School Commercials

Target back to school adMaking good commercials is challenging and stressful. Making
good commercials that also serve as good retail spots to motivate sales is
doubly so. You have 30 seconds to convey a lot of information, communicate
value and capture the viewer’s elusive attention. Plus, motivate them to
action. This year Target hit a home run with its series of Back to School ads.

Creative and
Storytelling:
Target features kids in situations that they would usually
encounter in school, making you (a concerned parent) worried and questioning whether
or not they have everything they need for school (but don’t worry Target can
help!) The storytelling makes the commercials barely feel like a sales pitch,
making you smile in the end.

Music: Music
really stands out as Target puts a spin on pop songs parents can relate to.
Each song sounds like it’s performed by a school band, adding another layer of
enjoyment to the overall experience.

Music Class (All the single ladies)

Bike Ride (Another one bites the dust)

 Locker (Hey Ya)

 Flex Arm Hang (Rocky Theme)

So, what do you think of Target’s campaign? What other spots
do you think are the best retail commercials or campaigns out there?
